If you’ve noticed anything new and strange on this website, you’re not imagining – I actually have been adding GPS routes to some of my previous articles.
Yes, it means I have somewhat capitulated to the Internet and opened a Ride With GPS account to make it possible despite my proclamations to the contrary but it was going to happen sooner or later, I think.
Anyway, not all articles will have routes added because some are either not interesting enough or too self explanatory to warrant getting a route but I’ll keep adding them as time goes on. Here are the ones I’ve mapped out so far:
On The Pony Trails Again. 43km ramble through some of the best countryside Brisbane has to offer. Excellent views, excellent food and coffee, fun riding. And if you live on the Northside, probably accessible from your front door by bike or if you’re a little further away, easily accessible from the Ferny Grove train station.
Variable Environments. 70km mixed terrain adventure ride through some of Brisbane’s most stunning natural areas and on to one of it’s finest food and entertainment districts. This one showcases how varied and versatile Brisbane can be when it comes to riding bikes.
Back Link Trail. 21km off road ramble through Bunyaville, Ironbark Gully, the Cabbage Tree Creek Bikeway and stitched together with some clever hidden linking trails. Not particularly tough but a MTB is recommended.
Lake Samsonvale Dam Wall McGavin View. 45km bikeway and road ride to Lake Samsonvale on the very Northern edges of Brisbane.
Universe In A Ball. 54km day adventure loop up Camp Mountain, through D’Aguilar National Park and back to Brisbane’s Northside. Lots of climbs with rewarding views.
Night Time Is The Right Time. 23km mixed terrain ride through Northern Brisbane’s reserves and bikeways which I use as one of my night time routes for those evenings when I need to get out of the house.
Coasting. A cruisy 45km Sunshine Coast bike plus train adventure running from Mooloolah Valley to Nambour.
Drought And Flood And Creek And Mud. 65km bikeway and back road ride spanning both the Northside and Southside of Brisbane. Featuring the Bulimba Creek Bikeway, Veloway and a rather nice lift aboard a CityCat.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow. An ambitious 105km one day bike plus train adventure from Nambour to Rainbow Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Plan well for this one.
A Smorgasbord Of Scenery. 58km mixed terrain jaunt deep in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland with some of the best views the Glass House Mountains have to offer.
The Age Of The Rail Trail. A relatively easy 57km out and back from Caboolture to Woodford taking in the Wamuran Rail Trail and Bracalba Forest.
Dundas Bush Camp. 86km overnight bikepacking adventure to Mt Nebo and around Brisbane’s Northside. Lots of scenery and a few good climbs.
