I’ll say it again; bikes and trains go together like gin and tonic. And whilst I’m not an actual consumer of such concoctions, the adage holds true for those seeking an enjoyable and flexible way to get around town using the best aspects of both bikes and trains as modes of transport. Lunch and seeing what’s new at QAGOMA always makes for a good day for me when I’m traveling like this. And you always get to see at pavement level what’s happening around Brisbane.
This sunny day, I went the whole hog on bimodal travel by bringing the Brompton for maximum stowability on the train plus maximum fun and whimsy when riding. Although slightly slower than a “big bike”, smiling is almost guaranteed on a Brompton and convenience is next level.

All up, it was a pretty slow, “jazz and bluesey” kind of day rolling along the CBD’s bikeways and streets while QAGOMA did not fail to surprise and delight once again. “City Before Our Eyes: Between dwelling, desire & density” was the exhibit that really caught my attention and particularly the Aditya Novali piece called “The Wall”. The detail in this make-believe apartment block is a thing that really lights up every corner of my imagination.

The only thing left to do after that was to find lunch and the Karaage at Motto Motto was excellent.
Ride safe and see you out there some time.
